After blacking out her social media, and then following with images of snakes, Taylor Swift makes her return today (August 25, 2017) with “Look What Made You Do,” her first single from her upcoming album Reputation, which drops on November 10th. The video for the single will be debuted at MTV’s Video Music Awards on August 27th.
The song’s lyrics are said to be volley back at Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, who called her out in July 2016 for claiming she had no prior knowledge of the lyrics in West’s songs “Famous” when she made an underhanded reference to the song’s “I made that bitch famous” line during her Grammy album of the year award acceptance speech in 2016.
Kardashian exposed Swift when she published a video on Snapchat showing West getting the okay from Swift on the lyrics before it went live.
At the same time, Swift also has ongoing beef with Katy Perry so she could be referenced in the lyrics as well.
One things for sure, the speculation around who is being referenced in the song helps fuel chatter so if nothing else the feud-themed lyrics are a smart way to market her return to making music.
