Within urban style history books, Ralph Lauren‘s early ’90s Polo offerings and the Lo-Life crew it inspired are viewed as legendary. The label has been notoriously stingy with bringing back any product from the period, but finally has announced it will reissue items from its Stadium collection as part of its 25th anniversary.
The new, very limited collection features a total of 12 pieces, including a polo, t-shirts, a P-Wing sweater, a parka and dad hats. Some items are authentic re-issues, while others like the the parka are new designs inspired by the original collection.
It should be noted that re-releases are often viewed as controversial by purists, who often say that original items shouldn’t be copied in part because they dilute the historic value of the original items.
If you’re not a purist, the collection will be sold at Ralph Lauren stores in New York (109 Prince Street), Beverly Hills (444 North Rodeo Drive), and Chicago (750 North Michigan Avenue). On September 19, 2017 the stores will give out a wristband that will enable the owner to purchase one item from the collection on September 21st.
The collection will also be sold at Fred Segal in Los Angeles (8100 Melrose Avenue), Bodega (6 Clearway Street) in Boston and Jimmy Jazz in Harlem (239 West 125 Street). Fred Segal (info) is handing out wristbands on September 19th and Bodega (info) and Jimmy Jazz (info) are holding raffles and will announce winners on September 20th and 21st respectively.
