In the lead up to the launch of Air Jordan and Aleali May‘s collaborative Retro 1 “Satin Shadow” sneaker, the stylist and model headed home to shoot with Los Angeles photographer Estevan Oriol and her grandmother’s home in South Central.
In honor of her family and their influence on her design ideas, Aleali May headed home to South Central to shoot with legendary Los Angeles photographer Estevan Oriol at the home of May’s grandmother, Sharon.
Her Uncle G, who’s included in the photo set, recalled May as a young girl. “She was always a tomboy. Jordan satin shorts, slippers or sneakers, all the time,” said G. “She was never into girlie stuff. Man, you used to have to kill her to get into a dress. She was not having it, not at all.”
The Jordan 1 “Satin Shadow” is available in men’s ($160) and grade school ($120) sizing on October 28, 2017 at select boutique retailers globally. This is a very coveted drop and it sounds like there will be no online sales. If you want this shoe you’re going to have to show up or pay a premium.
