Off-White designer Virgil Abloh traveled to Ikea headquarters today where he revealed a rug from his upcoming collaborative collection with the Swedish furniture company. Working off of a grey and black oriental carpet, Abloh added Off-White flare by printing “get off” in large, all cap letters across the middle of the piece, an amusingly contrary message delivered on an item that’s designed to provide a softer place to stand.
During a 30 minute presentation on Periscope with Ikea creative leader Henrik Most, Abloh took questions from viewers about the project, as well as his views on design. Abloh described the Ikea project as one of the most important ones he’s ever taken on because of his background as an architecture and also the staying power of furniture.
