While we don’t know a lot of people who can afford Mercedes’ flashy G65 Wagon, we do know a few who hold fantasies of one day owning one. That dream got crushed this week when Mercedes announced it was ending production of the coveted series, first introduced in 2012.
As a final farewell, the German-based company is creating the G65 Final Edition made up of a very limited run of 65 vehicles with only 30 shipping to the United States.
In addition to a souped up engine and the plush leather interior, the G65 Final Edition exterior features large 21‑inch, 10-spoke wheels finished in matte bronze. The car’s bumpers, spare-tire cover and grille surround are also bronze while the ride guard, running boards and black tailpipes receive a matte black treatment.
The U.S. price for the Final Edition is $252,690, which is $29,000 more than the standard 2018 G65.
In a tweet announcing the end of the G65, Mercedes was kind enough to offer a tissue to one disappointed fan who described the news as “worse than a breakup.”

According to caranddriver.com, while Mercedes is discontinuing the G65, it’s no doubt working on a similarly flashy but updated version of the car.
