Adding weight to the claims that it’s your inner circle you have to keep an eye on, news has surfaced that Rihana‘s own uncle has been running a Puma-related scam in Barbados.
According to Barbados newspaper Nation News, Rih’s uncle Leroy Fitzgerald Brathwaite aka Daddy I-Roy and more recently De Warrior, has been charged under the Fair Trading Commission’s (FTC) Consumer Protection Act for selling knock-off versions of Puma by Fenty product, including 11 pairs of slippers and 13 t-shirts, valued at a total of $1,000.
Ironically, it was Rihanna who was responsible for cracking the case. On a visit to her home, she noticed copy cat versions of her product sold on Bridgeton’s Swan Street, a location known for its shops and street-side vendors.
She reached out to a Puma rep, who flew to the island and made a police report with all paths leading back to Brathwaite.
Brathwaite is now free on bail set at $500 and will next appear in court on November 28, 2017.
Nation News has been criticized in Instagram comments for putting the story on the front page of its publication with many pointing out the publication was exploiting Brathwaite’s relationship with Rihanna.
“I can’t even for the life of me understand why they had to stated that he is riri uncle… And by the way my daughter buy something from them and they treat her good. We would go back again. Man look leave out riri name nah. SMDH,” wrote one of the commenters.
