Chart-topping Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Ozuna aka Jan Carlos Ozuna Rosado has dropped the visual for “La Modelo,” a single featuring Cardi B, who also claims Caribbean roots vis-a-vis her Trinidadian mother and Dominican father.
Produced by Yampi and Rvssian, Cardi sings in Spanish and switches back to English to deliver an eight-bar verse at the end of the song. Making the most of Jamaica as a colorful and vibe filled backdrop (including an amazing seaside white mansion), the video introduces a softer and more laid back version of the Bronx rapper.
In the video, Cardi wears an embellished red Augusto Manzanares bodysuit with Givenchy over-the-knee red boots. Augusto Manzanares was also responsible for Cardi’s gold bikini and red fire bodysuit, which was paired with lace-up Jennifer Le ankle boots.
Ozuno and Cardi B first made a connection when she went to see him perform at La Boom in Queens just over a year ago. “I wasn’t really listening to American music and I didn’t know who Cardi B was,” Ozuno told Billboard. The two had a chance to meet after the show and Ozuna got up to speed on her popularity. “I thought, ‘Wow, she’s so big and she’s into my music.”
