Bronx rapper Cardi B kicks off the new year with a candid interview with Beats 1 host Julie Adenuga, who quizzed Cardi on topics ranging from her from her dream purchase and her relationship with her family and hints about what to expect from her next album.
When asked about her favorite fashion labels Cardi mentioned Givenchy, DSquared2 and Gucci, but also Fashion Nova and Steve Madden because “not everyone can afford ‘bloody shoes,'” a reference to lyrics from her triple platinum hit “Bodak Yellow.” She also noted that Fashion Nova denim actually fits her body better than most high-end designers.
Cardi noted her family is her peace of mind and she speaks with her father everyday. “My family, I love them,” she commented, adding that her sister, Hennessy, is the one person who will cheer her up whenever the industry brings her down.
She also discussed dealing with fame and online comments and rumors. Cardi admitted online comments about her looks and talent level still get to her from time to time.
Cardi is set to perform at the Grammy Awards on January 28th, 2018.
