MOMA and Virgil Abloh‘s collaborative Nike Air Force 1 shoe is available at the museum as of today (January 27, 2018). The black shoe features a silver Swoosh. The image used by the museum doesn’t shoe’s white plastic zip tie, which was shown on leaked images (above) of the shoe though Abloh posted an video (below) of himself signing a pair and the shoe has a tie.
The purchase comes with a complementary pair of white socks featuring MOMA, Off-White and Air Force 1 branding.
This effort makes perfect sense because the Air Force 1 shoe is featured in the MOMA’s “Is Fashion Modern” exhibit, an effort to explore the meaning behind enduring items of clothing and shoes.
There are some rules: no trying on the shoe, no returns (as if!) and only one shoe per customer.
The shoe will be sold in MOMA’s design store at 44 West 53rd Street. Doors open at 8:00 AM. The purchase includes free admission to the museum. The shoe is priced at $175 and sizing runs from 6-15.
