February 1, 2018. Leave a Comment

Amazon has hit a home run with a new ad featuring Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa, which is shown in the spot falling ill and losing “her” voice, an event that makes national news. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is told the bad news by staff, who assure him they’ve found proper replacements.

Enter cranky chef Gordon Ramsay, rapper Cardi B, actress Rebel Wilson and actor Sir Anthony Hopkins who not only lend their their voices, but also bring along their personalities.

When asked how far away Mars is, Cardi chirps, “How far is mars? Well How am I supposed to know? I never been there. This guy wanna go to mars. For what? There’s not even oxygen there!” Later in the spot, Cari raps the lyrics to “Bodak Yellow” when asked to play country music.

In the spot, Cardi is styled by Kollin Carter wearing a These Pink Lips “Working Woman” trench coat.

The price for a 30 second spot this year is up to $5.1 million dollars. Amazon’s 90-second spot will make its official debut during the Super Bowl, which is set to air on February 4, 2018 at 3:30 PM PST on NBC.

Check out the ad below along with a special Cardi B edit.
