Ever mysterious street artist/s Banksy has returned to New York City with a statement about time. The art takes the form of a rat running counterclockwise within a clock mounted atop a two-story building located at 14th Street and 6th Avenue. The two-story building formerly housed an HSBC bank and is slated to be converted into a 13-story condominium.
Banksy caused a major stir in New York City in the month of October 2013 when he declared a 31-day residency of installations and works that popped up throughout the city on each day of the month.
Very little of the work Banksy displayed during his New York residency remains, according to the NY Post, who tracked their whereabouts in a 2015 article. Preserving the artist’s work is difficult because Banksy has let it be known he prefers the work to stay where it is. Creating further challenges, his representatives won’t participate in any attempts to authenticate his work, which brings down the value of the work.
