Bronx rapper Cardi B has dropped “B Careful,” the first single from her upcoming album, Invasion of Privacy. Taking a softer approach on the Frank Dukes, Boi-1da and Vinylz-produced track, Cardi mixes up singing and rapping. The song is spare, placing Cardi and all her raw emotions out front and center.
Lyrics reference a disappointing lover who’s dashed her dreams of eternal love: “I wanna get married, like the Curry’s, Steph and Ayesha shit, but we more like Belly, Tommy and Keisha shit. Gave you TLC, you wanna creep and shit. Poured out my whole heart to a piece of shit. Man, I thought you would’ve learned your lesson ‘bout liking pictures, not returnin’ texts. I guess it’s fine, man, I get the message.”
Given stories of Cardi’s fiance, Offset, cheating along with newly-surfaced rumors of a woman claiming she is carrying the rapper’s fourth child, one could assume the lyrics are directed at her beau. That said, Cardi’s dating life has never been carefree so it could be a reference to an ex. Make note, the lyrics reference Belly character Tommy, which also happens to be the name of her last boyfriend.
Meanwhile, Offset on March 25th on Twitter wrote, “My focus is my music, my family, Cardi, and the fans. Everything else is noise. Have a blessed day.”
