Comme Des Garçons Shows Eye-Popping Nike Cortez On Fall Runway

March 4, 2018. 5 Comments

Venerated Japanese label Comme des Garçons showed its fall presentation in Paris yesterday (March 3, 2018), revealing 16 looks expressing designer Rei Kawakubo’s signature sculptural approach to fashion.

Looks were paired with eye-popping pairs of platform Nike Cortez sneakers. And while Comme des Garçons is a frequent Nike collaborator, this silhouette is a bit different in that it’s being produced under Nike’s new Unlaced initiative, a new women’s retail concept designed to better serve the female customer.

Nike highlighted the event with an Unlaced van parked in front of the event. Nike Unlaced will launch on March 27th though these shoes won’t hit retail until fall 2018.

Check out the looks from the collection and Nike’s Unlaced van below.

Ambrosio and Tordini see the street as the most democratic of spaces, where life happens and fashion truly comes alive. In press with WWD Tordini shared, "We didn’t work over the past seven years thinking about how one day we would have hosted a runway show. That was never our priority, we worked to build the company."

Oozing of a certain cool, the brand is beloved by many fashion creatives, as Vogue noted attendees included Ferragamo’s Maximilian Davis, Gucci’s Sabato De Sarno, Jerry Lorenzo, Moncler CEO Remo Ruffini and DSquared designers Dean and Dan Caten, to name a few.
