Bronx rapper Cardi B visited Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” show yesterday (April 8, 2018) for her first interview following the announcement of her pregnancy on “Saturday Night Live” (watch her performance here).
While we all know Cardi is pregnant, in the exchange she revealed the baby is due sometime in July. Whether the baby is a boy or girl still remains a mystery though she said she and her fiancé, Offset, know the sex and have a named picked out.
Cardi also dismissed people who constantly bring up her past as a stripper. “I never regret stripping. It changed my life. If you don’t have a degree in New York, you’re getting straight up minimum wage jobs,” said Cardi, who then added, “I made my first $20,000 when I was 20-years old.”
She also discussed meeting Offset for the first time at a Migos album release party in New York. She explained she was skeptical at first because of all the stories she’s heard about rappers. “I had a closed heart for long time,” she said, adding that there first date was at the Super Bowl in Houston.
On “mostly women” criticizing her for choosing to have a baby when her career is taking off, Cardi got emotional and stated forcefully, “Why can’t I have both? Why do I have to choose a baby or a career? Like A family or your career? What do I have to be in my mid-30s to have a baby? What am I doing wrong? I’m a grown woman. I’m not 16-17-20-years old. I’m 25-years old. And I’m going to say this in the most humblest way, I’m a millionaire. I’m established. You know what I’m saying? The industry is never promised, but I know if I make the right money moves I’m going to always have money.”
Clad in a Laurence and Chico cold shoulder denim top and pearl-adorned shorts, we get an in-depth look into this ambitious, talented and smart woman and why she wins hearts!
Note at 40:35, some are saying Cardi gave away the sex of the baby, using the pronoun “she” to refer to her baby.
