London-based singer/songwriter Ella Mai has dropped a visual for “Boo’d Up,” a single about the whimsy of playful romance that oozes of summer love, friends, hangouts and of course fun.
Written by Mai and Dijon McFarlane (much better known as DJ Mustard), the soulful R&B single was released in February 2017 as part of her “Ready” EP. Mai is signed to McFarlane’s 10 Summers label an Interscope imprint.
Reflecting on the single, Mai told Billboard, “We released ‘Boo’d Up’ a year ago now on my third EP ‘Ready.’ None of us thought this song could possibly have a rebirth. I feel like it’s god’s time and I can’t really question it. But we’re extremely excited and grateful that everything is happening the way it’s happening.”
Mai is currently working on her debut studio album due out later this year.
