Lion Babe duo Jillian Hervey and producer Lucas Goodman drops “The Wave,” a funk-infused single featuring flows via Brooklyn-rapper Leikeli47. Strictly about a good time, the single makes for the perfect summer 2018 feel good track.
The single made its debut on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 “Hottest Record in the World” show (listen here, the interview starts at 30:00) where Hervey called in and spoke about the inspiration for Lion Babe’s sound. “The music is always informed by where you are and for us, New York is so home,” she said, adding, “I think just the energy of the records, they play into the things that have always have influenced us and hustling over to Brooklyn every day to work on the record totally enforces the sound so it’s a very New York vibe.”
“The Wave” is a follow up on the single “Honey Dew,” both of which will be included on Lion Babe’s upcoming album.
Lion Babe will be performing at Coachella (line up here) in April 2018. They will also perform at Afropunk Brooklyn (line up here) in August.
