Newly-appointed Burberry designer Riccardo Tisci has provided a first reveal of his design direction with a pre-spring 2019 capsule described as “B Classic.” Offerings include a trench coat, kilt, poncho, quilted coat, barn jacket and car coat.
Celebrating love is an ongoing theme in Tisci’s work and in the images models are shot as couples embracing each other.
On Instagram, Tisci wrote, “I wanted to celebrate the beauty, heritage and legacy that I discovered when I first arrived at Burberry. ‘B Classic’ is an edit that I’ve curated to honour the icons of the House, pieces like the trench coat, the quilted jacket, the car coat, the kilt, which sits at the heart of the SS19 pre collection designed by the fantastic Burberry design team. ”
The Italian-born Tisci was announced as the label’s chief creative officer in March 2017, replacing Christopher Bailey, who led the brand for 17 years. Tisci has his own venerated resume, having been the lead designer at Givenchy for 12 years.
