U.K.-based FKA Twigs checked in with her followers on Instagram today (May 10, 2018) and revealed she recently went through surgery to remove six fibroid tumors from her uterus. In the note, she described the tumors as “pretty huge, the size of two cooking apple, three kiwis and a couple of strawberries.” She added that the nurse described them in weight and size as akin to being six months pregnant,” which is fairly astounding given how small/compact she is.
Twigs described the pain from the tumors as “excruciating,” adding she under went surgery in December 2017 to have them removed. “I tried to be brave but it was excruciating at times and to be honest I started to doubt if my body would ever feel the same again,” she wrote.
The good news is, Twigs is starting to feel better again, finding her way back to her old self through dance. “Today whilst dancing with Kelly at the choreography house I felt like my strong self again for the first time in a while and it was magical,” She wrote. “Thank you precious body for healing, thank you for reminding me to be kind to myself, you are a wonderful thing, now go create and be other once again.”
She ultimately decided to reveal the news in solidarity with the many women who suffer from fibroid tumors.
