Gucci Celebrates The GG Logo With A Sporty Capsule Now At Retail

May 24, 2018. Leave a Comment

Italian-label Gucci continues to celebrate logo love with a capsule of sport-inspired items featuring the GG print. Items include a dress, skirt, track jacket, drawstring pleated skirt and joggers. Garments make use of  what Gucci describes as technical jersey the label first made use of in the ’80s. Items are detailed with Gucci’s trademark web stripe combined with sporty red, white and blue overlays.

The GG pattern prominently splashed back on the scene in Beyoncé’s “Formation” visual, which featured custom GG costumes. Subsequently the GG look has been widely embraced by prominent musicians, including and especially Rihanna, who (of course) was the first one spotted in the technical collection way back in February 2017.

Priced from $1,500 for the joggers up to $2,200 for the dress, Gucci GG technical jersey collection is available now on gucci.com.

Rihanna wore it first!

Part of his debut collection with the retailer, the men's "giant fit" chino priced at 89.50 is 100% sold out! Relecting the popularity of the silhouette, the women's wide-leg pleated cargo is also sold out.

With wider fits and chino swinging back into popularity, we can't help but wonder what sneakers and shoes will be coming along for the ride. Any nominations?

The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her care The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her career as a professional tennis player in the September issue of American Vogue.

In the cover story, which is a must read, Williams shares some thoughts on her evolution away from tennis and says,"Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity. Don’t get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia. I was one of those annoying women who adored being pregnant and was working until the day I had to report to the hospital—although things got super complicated on the other side. And I almost did do the impossible: A lot of people don’t realize that I was two months pregnant when I won the Australian Open in 2017."

The cover editorial was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who in 2020 became the first black woman to style a U.S. Vogue cover.

This cover was also one of the last projects hairstylist #LatishaChong worked on before she sadly passed away in July this year.
