Jennifer Lopez famously from a block in the Boogie Down joins forces with fellow Bronxite Cardi B on “Dinero,” a fun single produced by DJ Khaled.
The single deftly mixes English and Spanish verses and is centered by Lopez’s hook: “Yo quiero, yo quiero dinero, ay; Yo quiero, yo quiero dinero, ay; I just want the green, want the money, want the cash flow.”
Meanwhile, Cardi makes multiple references to her multi-cultural Bronx upbringing, spitting: “Dominicana, drippin’ in designer; I got the juice, no Tropicana; I got the box that got the most flavor; Big fat cat like in the bodegas.
Given recent ugly new showing a white New York lawyer attacking restaurant workers for speaking Spanish to each other, the timing of this single is a perfectly-timed reminder that part of what’s beautiful about New York is the mosaic of cultures that inform and rub shoulders with each other.
On Instagram, Lopez said to to expect a video shortly.
The single will be included on Lopez’s Spanish-language album Por Primera Vez, dropping some time in 2018.
