A$AP Rocky’s and Under Armour’s collaboration has finally been revealed after months of anticipation. While the partnership was first announced in September 2017, neither Rocky nor Under Armour have said much about the endeavor since then.
The shoe had its official coming out party during Rocky’s live performance art piece, “Lab Rat,” which took place at Sotheby’s in New York on May 20, 2018. The all-black sneaker feature a mesh upper with leather overlays, a unique lacing cage overlay, and a chunky midsole.
While the appearance during the “Lab Rat” event was the shoe’s most official reveal to date, as it turns out Rocky has posted images of himself wearing Under Armour silhouettes on his Instagram feed, as has his stylist, Matthew Henson.
No detailed photos have surfaced, but it’s clear the Under Armour by Rocky shoe takes strong inspiration from the Osiris D3, an early ’00s skate shoe Rocky has been spotted wearing.
There’s no word yet on the official drop date of Rocky’s Under Armour sneaker, but some are speculating it’ll drop the same day as his upcoming album, Testing. Given that Rocky recently hinted at a May 25, 2018, drop date for the album, it seems unlikely the shoe will hit the same day.
