Japan’s appreciation for Hello Kitty knows no bounds. In a nod to the Sanrio character’s popularity, West Japan Railway Company has announced plans for a Hello Kitty-themed bullet train.
Working off of two 500 series Shinkansen bullet train models, both trains will featured a white and pink, Hello Kitty-festooned exterior.
The train will include a passenger car whose floors, windows, headrests and armrests will be covered with Hello Kitty motifs. There are additional Kitty carriages where passengers can buy souvenirs, take pictures in a photo booth and also pose with a Hello Kitty doll who’s wearing the official crew uniform.
Sticking with the Hello Kitty theme, the train will ring the Hello Kitty theme song as it approaches each station.
Instead of the usual Shinkansen jingle, the train will ring the original Hello Kitty theme tune as it approaches the stations.
You can get on board the Hello Kitty bullet train staring June 30, 2018. The trains will run between the western cities of Osaka and Fukuoka for a total of three months.
