Bronx-born Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stunned the country when she defeated Joeseph Crowley, who’s been a member of Congress since 1999 on June 26, 2018. Ocasio-Cortez racked up 58 percent of the primary vote for the New York 14th Congressional district and is favored to win the race in November.
In a televised debate with Crowley in mid-June, viewers were impressed by her charismatic personality, which helped propel her to victory, but also her signature red lipstick.
Known for her emphasis on engaging with her constituency, Ocasio-Cortez responded on social media to people querying about her lipstick. On Twitter, she wrote, “I have been getting many inquiries about my debate lip color in the last two days. I GOT YOU. It’s Stila ‘Stay All Day’ Liquid in Beso.”
