New York-based Brujas collective has dropped a cool assortment of banded underwear, sport bras, leggings and crop tops. Titled “Seize Bellevue,” the collection is named after New York City’s first public hospital, one whose psychiatric facilities has held a choppy reputation.
The collection was featured in Los Angeles-based Cabbage magazine, which puts a spotlight on an apparel brand in each issues. On Cabbage‘s site, press on Bruja coverage reads, “….or decoding the truth behind the actual training to cause permanent mental health issues while being institutionalized? ‘Get them while we can!’ seems to be what whitey wrote. Would there be a problem with a stock increase on patients entering mental hospitals? Who says there’s a capacity? Could we all be at risk within our ‘normal’ mental state? Would normal to our self, not be normal to the state, if we do show improvement within ourselves? Medicine money and drug money, what’s the difference?”
The collection is currently available online and will also be offered at at a series of pop-up shopping events in Paris and Portland, Maine this week.
All items are priced at $32 and may be purchased at brujas.nyc. If you’re interested in purchasing a copy of Cabbage, it’s available in pdf format here.
