St.Louis-born rapper Sexyy Red is having a moment with her video for “Ah Thousand Jugs,” a song that samples Vanessa Carlton’s 2011 “A Thousand Miles” single.
Shot against a suburban backdrop by Laboxx BGP, the video is a study in juxtapositions, starting with visuals showing Red skipping down the block in a cute white tennis set while toting a massive automatic rifle. Then there’s her boo played by a nerdy white male who doesn’t exactly seem her type, not to mention a verse that rhymes “shooting you” with “lost a tennis shoe.”
It’s cute, fun and catchy and the anthem summer 2018 has been waiting for: “Bo, bo, bo, bo, bo, bo, bo!”
