Apple revealed multiple new products today (September 12, 2018) as part of its annual fall product announcement event held at its headquarters in Cupertino, California.
One of the most buzz-worthy items was the Apple Watch Series 4 whose new features include a 30 percent larger screen and an electrical heart sensor that allows the user to take an electrocardiogram that came be shared with a doctor. The ECG app was approved for used by the US Food and Drug Administration, a move that moves the watch from just another fitness tracker to a medical device.
Meme makers seem to be particularly enamored with watches ability to detects a fall, which will trigger a call to emergency services if the wearer doesn’t dismiss an alarm within five seconds.
Enhanced cellular connectivity enables phone calls, music streaming and emergency assistance independent of a cell phone.
The Watch Series 4 also includes additional workouts and coordinated activities with friends and family, automatic exercise detection, and personal coaching.
Pricing for the watch starts at $399 and it will be available to order on September 14th with delivery on September 21st.
