Singer and actress Jenifer Lewis attended the Emmy Awards tonight (September 17, 2018) in Los Angeles where she wore a custom Nike sweatshirt and sneakers as a nod to the brand’s decision to feature Colin Kaepernick in a “Just Do It” fall ad campaign.
“I’m wearing Nike to applaud them for supporting Colin Kapernick and his protest against racial injustice and police brutality,” she said, adding, “Thank you [Nike] for leading the resistance, we need more of corporate America to stand up, also. These are not dark times, they’re awakening times and we all need to wake up.
Lewis ended the interview by thanking Kapernick for his braveness.
If you’re looking to reproduce Lewis’ look, she wore a Nike fleece crew ($65) and Air VaporMax Light II boot ($180). Lewis credited entertainers Shangela and Ms. Cake Moss with helping her customize the top.
