For Nike’s latest LeBron James sneaker, the HFR x LeBron 16, the brand tapped Harlem Fashion Row to assist with the design of the show. Founded in 2007, Harlem Fashion Row has a mission of supporting minority designers in particular women.
The effort was inspired by LeBron who wanted a project reflecting his appreciation for the contributions of black women globally. “I believe that African American women are some of the strongest people on earth. I grew up around some amazingly strong women and am inspired by the strength I see around me, including my mom, wife and daughter,” said LeBron in a press statement.
The HFR x LeBron 16 was unveiled at the Harlem Fashion Row Showcase Gala on September 4, 2018, during which James was honored for his influence and contribution to the community.
Nike’s LeBron HFR will drop on September 7, 2018 in limited quantities on SNKRS in North America and on nike.com.
