Azealia Banks And Lana Del Rey Go At It On Twitter, Kanye Weighs In

The impact of Lana del Rey’s attack on Kanye West last week continues to reverberate into a second week of ugly exchanges. Tonight (October 9, 2018), in the midst of the American Music Awards, del Rey responded to an earlier attack by her former friend Azealia Banks and the two proceeded to lob shots at each other over the course of over two hours.

On Twitter, Del Rey wrote, “@shopcheapyxo u know the addy. Pull up anytime. Say it to my face. But if I were you- I wouldn’t.” She then added, “Banks. u coulda been the greatest female rapper alive but u blew it. dont take it out on the only person who had ur back.” And for good measure added, “I won’t not fuck you the fuck up. Period.”

Banks first attempted to resist responding, stating, “sometimes you have to ignore these white bitches,” but then went full throttle with several tweets making fun of del Rey’s appearance. Banks wrote, “Let’s talk about arm workouts today!! Example : This is an example of an aging white woman who got work done on her face, and none done on her body (where she needed it most) Let’s walk her through some upper arm workout! #CHEAPYXOTIPS. In a second tweet, she added, “First, we need her to call the surgeon who did her pointy Michael Jackson nose and ask for some kybella for those chicken patties!!’ Next we need her to head over to Instagram and invest in some @FlatTummyCo lollipops and a $20 waist trainer.”

Banks also posted a screen shot that appeared to be an exchange with new friend Kanye West, who in response to del Ray’s critique Banks had blown her career, wrote, “You never blew it. There’s so much more to do.”

Banks also spoke about the feud at length on Instagram stories where she reiterated points she made in her tweets.

The first shot was fired on Sunday (September 30, 2018) by Banks in response to Rey’s critique of a West Instagram post in which he’s wearing a Make American Great Hat. Commenting on the post, Rey described West’s support of Trump as a loss for the culture. Azealia Bank clapped back, saying Rey was in no position to criticize West’s support of Trump given Rey had once worked with A$AP Rocky, whose reputation with women isn’t squeaky clean.

Banks tweeted, “Wow okay Lana, this would be cute if you were consistent with your outrage and refused to collab with ASAP rocky who has physically assaulted women too.” (For the record, it appears Rocky’s assault record is limited to slapping a female fan at a concert in 2013.)

She then added, “To me, this just looks like the typical White woman taking using a weakened target to ‘pretend’ to be an ally. She finished by stating, “Especially because you know that a white woman vs a black male will result in an immediate victory for the white woman due to societal circumstances.”

Check out some of tonight’s tweets below. Already, Banks has deleted some of hers.

Mind you, del Rey attended West’s wedding so they’re not pure strangers! #AzealiaBanks in turn takes down her (now former?) friend del Rey with references of her support of #ASAPRocky….aka M.E.S.S!! ♊♊♊ #snobettesounds #ye #maga

For fall winter 2025 KNWLS opted to forego a runwa For fall winter 2025 KNWLS opted to forego a runway show and present their collection in a styled lookbook.

Taking inspiration from a feminine Y2K aesthetic, the collection embodies designers Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault’s ability to balance sexy and cool.

In an interview with Vogue, the pair shared that they are currently working on a new design director role in Europe and have several other projects in the pipeline, including another denim project, a collaboration with a jewelry brand, and a menswear capsule for an e-commerce site.

Commenting on the lookbook styling, they shared, "Obviously in the lookbooks it's styled in a quite extreme way, but if you break it down into individual pieces, we've been thinking about merchandising and the customer more than ever before," said Arsenault. "We've seen the team in the studio wearing the pieces differently too, and we've taken that into account. It's a nice challenge to say: 'Okay, we want to make a sweatshirt, but it still has this silhouette or wash or rib detail that makes it feel really Knwls."
