Cardi B Discusses ‘Bodak Yellow’ And Motherhood In ASMR Interview

cardi asmr interview

October 22, 2018. 2 Comments

Bronx rapper Cardi B conducted an ASMR-trigger video in which she discusses her love of ASMR, an acronym for autonomous sensory meridian response.

In the video, Cardi says she’s a big fan of ASMR videos and listens to them every night at bedtime to induce the ASMR tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine

In the video, Cardi discusses her fear that “Bodak Yellow” would be a one-hit wonder. She whispers, “When ‘Bodak Yellow’ came out, I was wondering if this is going to be my first hit and it was. It changed my life forever. But I was also scared because the song was so big I didn’t know if the record was going to follow up. I didn’t want it to be a one-hit wonder.

“When I was doing Invasion of Privacy, I thought ‘Be Careful with Me’ was going to be my biggest hit record because I felt every woman can relate to the record. And even if ‘Be Careful with Me’ is two-time platinum, it’s actually not my biggest record from Invasion of Privacy. ‘I Like it Like That’ is. I couldn’t believe that ‘I Like it [Like That]’ is going to be such a hit but you know, the people like the song. It was the last video that I shot while I was about six months pregnant. And we shot it in Miami and it was very very hot. I was getting very very sick ’cause I was so so pregnant and my feet were getting swollen.”

Cardi also discusses her baby Kulture and how much she adores her. Says Cardi, “My favorite thing about being a mother is I have someone to look forward to looking at every day and night. I get very anxious to see my baby 24/7. And I love my baby’s face. And I love her breath. And I love her smile. And I love how she looks at me. She looks at me like she needs me more than anything. And sometimes I look very ugly and fucked up or sometimes I wake up right next to her and she just looks at me like I’m a present from god but she’s my present from god. She’s so beautiful, so innocent, and I love, love, love my baby more than anything or anybody.”

Looking at the YouTube comments for Cardi’s video, she’s receiving high marks from ASMR aficionados, who expressed appreciation for her ASMR skill.

For fall winter 2025 KNWLS opted to forego a runwa For fall winter 2025 KNWLS opted to forego a runway show and present their collection in a styled lookbook.

Taking inspiration from a feminine Y2K aesthetic, the collection embodies designers Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault’s ability to balance sexy and cool.

In an interview with Vogue, the pair shared that they are currently working on a new design director role in Europe and have several other projects in the pipeline, including another denim project, a collaboration with a jewelry brand, and a menswear capsule for an e-commerce site.

Commenting on the lookbook styling, they shared, "Obviously in the lookbooks it's styled in a quite extreme way, but if you break it down into individual pieces, we've been thinking about merchandising and the customer more than ever before," said Arsenault. "We've seen the team in the studio wearing the pieces differently too, and we've taken that into account. It's a nice challenge to say: 'Okay, we want to make a sweatshirt, but it still has this silhouette or wash or rib detail that makes it feel really Knwls."
