Off-White continues to move upward with news today (October 24, 2018) that the brand is now positioned as No. 1 on Lyst’s index for the third quarter (July-September) of 2019. Off-White knocks Gucci off the top spot into a No. 2 positioned, followed by Balenciaga, which didn’t see a change compared with the second-quarter index.
While the top three spots saw only minor jostling, Nike moved up from a No. 9 spot to No. 4, driven by World Cup team victories, a high-buzz collaboration with Virgil Abloh and a Just Do It campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick that was impactful enough to temporarily drive down the brand’s stock price. Prada also jumped from spot No. 10 to No. 5 and Yeezy traded up five slots to a No. 7 position.
In addition to a hottest brand list, Lyst also publishes a hottest products list. The top three women’s items were a Dior saddle bag, followed by an Off-White belt and the Birkenstock Madrid sandals. The top three men’s items were all sneakers, starting with Nike, then Yeezy and Balenciaga.
Lyst uses it’s own affiliate shopping site and Google search data and with this quarter began to add social media engagement statistics. It should be noted a handful of luxury brands (including Louis Vuitton and Channel) sell almost entirely through their own retail platforms and don’t use affiliate links, thus, they are underrepresented in this survey.
