Nicki Minaj today (October 2, 2018) previewed two clips from an upcoming documentary titled “Queen.” In one clip she speaks about her father being violent with her mother and recalls a time she stood between them to protect her mother. “I vowed from that age, no man would ever abuse me, call me out my name, treat me like that,” she said tearfully, “And then all of a sudden that was my life.”
In the second clip she added, “Who was I going to inspire if I had nothing in me to give.I let one human being make me so low. That like, I didn’t even remember who I was! I was scared to get in the studio, like I didn’t believe in myself, I didn’t. All of a sudden in Miami, I started catching a vibe as soon as I went to Miami. Like, as soon as I changed locations, I started catching a vibe. And then one day I got the vibe, it’s time to go to New York. And you were there and you saw what was happening and it started being incredible. “Coco Chanel,” “Miami,” “Good Form,” all of those things just started as mumbles in the studio in New York.”
During her heartfelt confessional, Minaj was careful not to state who the “one human being” was in the clip. While it sounds like she was going through a period of depression before she started recording Queen in 2017, whoever she’s referencing could be anyone from an ex (Safaree, Meek Mill, Nas) to a family member or even a creative peer.
After Minaj posted her clips, Mill jumped in the fray and reposted an image defining the behavior of a narcissist. The first line of the definition read, “When cornered, they’ll lash out by claiming that THEY are the real victim.” Under the post, Mill wrote, “LOL,” which appeared to be a direct response to Minaj’s claims of being badly hurt by someone. Not long after posting it, Mill deleted the post.
At the same time, rumors continue to circulate that Mill is playing on recording music with Minaj’s current arch enemy, Cardi B.
All told, so much for Minaj and Mill attempting a reconciliation. At the same time, “Queen Radio” episode 9 should be another epic one!
