Nicki Minaj claps back at criticism she blocks other artists’ opportunities with a collection of “Nicki stopped my bag” merch. Items include a backpack (literally a bag), coach’s jacket and t-shirt. Items include a QSA graphic, an abbreviation for the newly-formed Queens Security Administration.
The phrase has it roots in Cardi B’s feud with Minaj that came out into the light during New York Fashion Week at Bazaar’s ICON party where Cardi attempted to throw a shoe at Minaj. Following the event, she posted her explanation for the outburst on Instagram where she accused Minaj of blocking her opportunities. “I’ve let a lot of shit slide! I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me, I let you attempt to stop my bags, fuck up the way I eat!” She added, “You’ve threaten other artists in the industry, told them if they work with me you’ll stop fuckin with them!!”
Minaj fans made light of Cardi’s claim with the hashtag #nickistoppedmybag, which was used as the cause for a wide array of failures none of which had anything to do with Minaj.
For what it’s worth, highly competitive business people including music creatives are known for territorial behavior, which includes freezing out other people they compete with. It’s impossible to say how Minaj’s behavior compares to her peers, but it’s a good bet that because she’s a woman she’s judged more harshly for not being more community oriented.
Offered in sizes S-2X, Minaj’s QSA merch is priced at $30 for t-shirt silhouettes and $75 each for the coach’s jacket and backpack. All items are now available on nickiminajqueen.com.
