Tiffany Young of eight-member K-Pop girl group Girls’ Generation checks in with Vanity Fair and provides a fun tutorial on popular Korean slang. Young runs through the Korean equivalent for it’s lit, swag, don’t lie, wtf, I didn’t ask and I don’t care, kill my vibe and more.
Born in San Francisco, Young at age 15 successfully auditioned for mega-music company SE Entertainment, which produces Girls Generation among other groups. Young moved to Korea where she studied the language for four years. She made her debut with the band in 2007.
Young is an apt choice for the tutorial because she’s fluent in English and her Korean language skills are on point as well so she has a good feel for translating the nuances of slang from one language to another.
