Following Offset‘s attempt to publicly apologize to Cardi B during her Rolling Loud set in Los Angeles, fans reacted with a mixture of anger and disgust he was able to interupt her performance during what was a very big moment for Cardi, as the first female headliner for the concert.
Rolling Loud, which already has a horrible reputation for notoriously under-booking female performers, quickly pushed back on accusations it knew in advance of the plan to bring a solo Offset on stage.
While initially denying they knew about plans for any special guests, Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherift then backtracked and told the L.A. Times, “We were told she was going to have a guest star during her set, that it was going to be Migos, but we didn’t know anything about that stunt. We’re getting blamed as if we conspired to do this, and I just want to make it clear that we did not. Cardi’s management was in on it, it had nothing to do with the festival. The artist is in full control of the stage and they determine who gets on and off.”
Cardi’s publicist Patientce Foster also came under fire because she was spotted on video bringing Offset on stage. Infuriated by the attacks, Cardi jumped on Instagram Live where she explained at length the reasoning for her loyalty to Patienctce, who began repping her before “Bodak Yellow” cemented her fame. She also hopped in Instagram comments on @thejasminebrand where she also took up Foster’s cause.
At one point during her lengthy lecture on Ig Live, the Bronx-born rapper threatened to delete her Instagram page and withhold the visual for “Money” to keep critics in check. Cardi added she’s been battling with depression all year because of people taking advantage of her with the exception of Patientce who “loves me regardless.”
Meanwhile, to add to the swirling drama, Offset’s father, Michael Woodward, weighed in on Facebook where he described Cardi as a “hot-headed female who thrives off of social media attention and is at the same level financial level as/above [Offset] and it’s a recipe for disaster.”
He added that Cardi published the picture of her daughter, Kulture, after she announced the break up “out of spite,” a move that “screwed my whole family over that vowed not to release pictures to social media.”
