Who better than Drake aka Champagne Papi to launch a line of champagne. The only real question is, what took him so long? The Toronto native has announced plans to launch a champagne called Mod Sélection, an exclusive bubbly bottled by Brent Hocking, a fifth generation champagne maker located in France’s Vallée de la Marne, a sub-region of the Champagne wine region.
According to press, Mod Sélection represents a champagne first developed in 1892 that’s never been sold to the general public. Befitting its fancy heritage, Drake’s bubbly is packaged in an ornate, brown bottle.
Commenting on the launch, Drake sounded as though he was commenting as much on his music career as the champagne: “The product is great, the presentation is great, and hopefully the representation is great as well. I think the full packaging is there and when you have the full package, it should be a wide scale, easy sell,” said Drake, who added, “It should be a long one and a strong one.”
This is not Drake’s first time delving into the world of alcohol. He launched his own whiskey label, Virginia Black, in partnership with Brent Hocking, in September 2016.
Drake celebrated the launch of Mod Sélection with a New Year’s Eve party in Los Angeles where guests were able to toast with the exclusive bubbly in their glasses.
Priced at $300 for the champagne and $400 for the rosé, Mod Sélection is now available to purchase at liquorama.net.
