Queen-born rapper Nicki Minaj has garnered inclusion in an exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History, in Washington D.C. Minaj is included in the “Cultural Expressions” exhibit that explores the pillars of black American cultural expression.
Initially it was thought Minaj would be honored as a pioneer of hip hop, however, the museum issued a statement clarifying it doesn’t issue hip hop awards. The statement read, “Nicki Minaj is not honored in our Cultural Expressions exhibition but is included in a video compilation exploring African American culture including style, identity, foodways & artistry.”
Even though the museum found the time to tweet, at the moment the facility is closed because of the government shut down. Stayed tuned on that.
