It’s well-established that Rihanna‘s love for fashion runs deep and it appears she’s now preparing to tap into her vision and influence by starting her own label. According to WWD, parent company LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton have been in secret discussions to launch a luxury house under her name. The launch under a Rihanna-directed brand would mark the first time LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault has launched a label since Christian Lacroix (which owns 50 percent of Fenty Beauty) in 1987.
Already, LVMH has begun to assemble a brand with talent pulled from Celine and Louis Vuitton. As for timing, there is speculation the roll out will coincide with the launch of her album in 2019. LVMH began putting together her fashion team about six months ago in Paris, where the project is being overseen by Sidney Toledano, chairman and chief executive officer of LVMH Fashion Group, which oversees labels including Givenchy, Celine, Kenzo and Marc Jacobs.
Rihanna turned heads earlier this week when she was spotted out and about in a pair of Fenty-branded sunglasses. Sources told WWD, Rihanna was testing a prototype.
Given the smashing success of Fenty Beauty, it comes as no surprise LVMH would want to extend her reach to other platforms. In addition to the beauty brand, Rihanna also oversees Fenty X Savage, a lingerie brand that launched in spring 2018. She also had a three-year partnership with Puma that ended in spring 2018 .
In other Rihanna news, she was forced to sue her father, Robert Fenty, to stop him from using her relationship with him to book concerts through his Fenty Entertainment Corp.
