Nicki Minaj dropped another episode of “Queen Radio” today (February 2, 2019), an episode that included Soulja Boy as a guest as well as the release of two new freestyle singles. “Barbie Gone Bad” makes use of Meek Mill‘s “Going Bad” song featuring Drake, while Barbie Drip” takes beats from Gunna and Lil Baby’s 2018 single, “Drip Too Hard.”
“Barbie Gone Bad” is garnering the most attention because it affirms the end of Minaj’s friendship with Drake that was alluded to in her “Hard White” video.
Minaj takes shots at Drake as well as Meek Mill, who she accuses of befriending her enemies after they broke up. In the verse, Minaj spits, “When you lose the Queen, niggas friendly, dog. It was just back to back like Wembley, dog. Now you all the way back up in the Bentley, dog. I turn lemons into lemonade simply, dog.” With lyrics direct at both rappers, she states, “Old boy and my brother tried to end me, dog.”
Later in the song, she reminds Meek she was there to help him with legal struggles before Beyoncé and Jay-Z became his advocates with the bar: “I was in the court, no Jays and Beys; Made her change her mind in the judge chamber, sleeze.”
She also took an effective swipe at Cardi B when she raps, “Imitating Nicki while your ghostwriter dissin’ me.”
Minaj also leave the door open for Drake and her to repair their fissure with a double entrende line that also references Souljah. She spits, “He always come back, Big Draco.”
In the outro for “Barbie Gone Bad,” Minaj says she’s finished her fifth album, but is hesitant to release any singles because she’s been blackballed by radio.
