Model Slick Woods’ mother is finally a free woman. Today Slick (real name Simone Thompson) shared an image of herself and her mother, Leah, who was freed after serving a long 17-year prison stint for manslaughter. In the caption showing the duo who looked as much like sisters as mother and daughter, she wrote, “Cried a lot 😳 Me n mom, fresh out after 17 years of prison 😴.”
It’s been a momentous year for Slick, who bore her first child by Adonis Bosso, a boy named Saphir, within hours of her walking the Savage X Fenty runway in fall 2018.
Born in Minneapolis, the 22-year-old model moved to Venice Beach, California at age two. She was raised by her grandmother in California after her then 19-year-old mother was sent to prison, four years after Slick’s birth.
On her mother’s influence Woods told Elle last year, “But my mum was very hands-on with me as a child. My mummy read to me in the womb, and she’s proud because she knows that everybody expected me to be exactly what she was. She went to prison when she was 19. I became a model at 19. And I can take care of my mother when she gets out.”
