Little Rock-based Kari Faux (real name Kari Johnson), follows up on the release of lead single “LEAVE ME ALONE” with “CRY 4 HELP,” a five-song EP. On the project, the 24-year-old lyrically faces down some of the more traumatic moments in her life, including adoption, experiencing a miscarriage at age 15 and betrayal by a friend.
We met with Faux earlier this week for an interview and also photographed her for an editorial. The images reveal an evolution on Faux, showing a person who’s soaring more freely (for the most part) following the work of removing various stumbling blocks.
Reacting to the EP, Faux wrote on Instagram, “i really can’t believe this is actually out in the world now. the soundtrack to my unstable ass life. i ain’t got my shit together and i don’t want to pretend like i do. this entire process has freed me in a way and taught me so much about myself and others.
Stayed tuned for our interview with Faux and below check out some shot of Faux, styled by Samia Grand Pierre and photographed by Mauricio Jorquera.
