Rihanna Celebrates Spring For Bazaar’s May Issue

April 11, 2019. Leave a Comment

While not yet officially launched, a fan stumbled upon an early new stand issue revealing Rihanna is the cover star for Harper’s Bazaar magazine’s May 2019 issue.

Celebrating the arrival of spring and an explosion of color and flowers, the cover is a close up up shot of the Bajan Beauty wearing a trio of dramatic eye shadow shades. Editorial images are just as colorful.

Given Fenty Beauty as of yet doesn’t offer the shades featured on the cover, it’s a good bet they’re a preview of an upcoming launch, something Rihanna also alluded to at a recent Fenty Beauty influencer event in London when she wore a bright yellow eye shadow.

Generally speaking, celebrities appear on cover when they have a project to promote. Rihanna might be putting some energy behind a new Fenty Beauty-launch or perhaps there will be some music related news. It’s known she’s been working on her ninth studio album, which is near completion or in the books. As well, she’s featured on Childish Gambino’s “Guava Island” music project dropping on April 13th.

Check out the cover and some editorial shots below.

Part of his debut collection with the retailer, the men's "giant fit" chino priced at 89.50 is 100% sold out! Relecting the popularity of the silhouette, the women's wide-leg pleated cargo is also sold out.

With wider fits and chino swinging back into popularity, we can't help but wonder what sneakers and shoes will be coming along for the ride. Any nominations?

The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her care The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her career as a professional tennis player in the September issue of American Vogue.

In the cover story, which is a must read, Williams shares some thoughts on her evolution away from tennis and says,"Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity. Don’t get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia. I was one of those annoying women who adored being pregnant and was working until the day I had to report to the hospital—although things got super complicated on the other side. And I almost did do the impossible: A lot of people don’t realize that I was two months pregnant when I won the Australian Open in 2017."

The cover editorial was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who in 2020 became the first black woman to style a U.S. Vogue cover.

This cover was also one of the last projects hairstylist #LatishaChong worked on before she sadly passed away in July this year.
