Rihanna as she often does created headlines with an off-the-shoulder lemon yellow dress she wore to a Fenty Beauty influencer event in London last week. While info on the purse she was carrying emerged, there wasn’t the usual label details about her dress from either the various accounts that cover her every wardrobe move or her stylist, Jahleel Weaver.
One possibility is that the dress wasn’t claimed because in fact it’s a first-ever preview of a dress from her upcoming Fenty line, which will be launched under the LVMH umbrella of luxury labels.
Eagle-eyed members of the Navy added weight to the theory by pointing out a label on the dress’ left sleeve. While Rihanna hasn’t confirmed much less mentioned plans for a label, a box-shaped Fenty logo that was trademarked in January by Roraj Trade (a company that manages Rihanna’s intellectual property) looks very similar to the one on the sleeve.
The Bajan Boss has already previewed sunglasses bearing the Fenty label so the dress marks the first time she’s previewed an item of clothing.
If indeed the dress is a Fenty prototype, it’s providing a taste of what’s to come, which is to say a label that’s equal parts bold, sexy and fabulous. In other words, it’s the DNA of its head designer realized in a fashion label aka the energy of her efforts with Puma but on 100.
