As promised, Bronx rapper Cardi B at midnight on May 31, 2019, dropped “Press, a follow up to her “Please Me” single with Bruno Mars. First teased in November 2018, the song’s title is a push back on the media’s coverage of her. Boast-filled lyrics also reference her top dog status and wealth.
Reflecting a clap back at criticisms she doesn’t write her own lyrics, Cardi (real name Belcalis Almanzar) is listed as the only person in the writing credits.
The black and white photograph used for the single was shot by Jora Frantzis, who directed Cardi’s “Money” visual and has also photographed some of her most memorable images. In the “Press” images, an embattled and near naked Cardi is shown pushing past press outside of a courthouse with a set up referencing old Hollywood visuals.
Her look was styled by Kollin Carter while her hair was handled by Tokyo Stylez.
The single is now available on all streaming channels. Check it out on Spotify below.
