Tokyo-based Ambush and Seoul eyewear label Gentle Monster have combined to create a slick, futuristic eyewear silhouette first revealed as part of the label’s fall 2019 offerings, a collection inspired by The Man Who Fell to Earth, a 1976 dystopian science fiction film starring David Bowie.
The goggle-shaped lens is offered in clear, blue or orange while the glasses’ arms are stamped with Ambush and Gentle Monster branding along with the words “Zip Tie,” reflecting the name of the collaboration as well as a zip-tie mechanism that allows for slight adjustments of hardware. Each silhouette includes a silver clip-on accessory that combines flip versions of both brands’ names.
Priced at $350, the glasses will first drop at the Ambush Workshop Tokyo store on July 6, 2019. Gentle Monster will follow with a pop-up store located in Seoul from July 11-14 (address details below). The “Zip Tie” collection will go live globally on July 11th on gentlemonster.com and ambushdesign.com.
