Heron Preston has another collabo with Levi’s in the works, one that’s themed on making mistakes. Titled “Mistakes Are Okay,” the capsule features a jacket and Levi’s 501 silhouette offered in bright pink and faded denim featuring askew and deconstructed pockets, buttons and labels.
Reflecting on the collection’s theme, Preston explained it was born out of a mistake on his birth certificate that happened to line up with the year Levi’s was founded. On Instagram, Preston explained, “‘Mistakes are OK’ inspired by a tattoo on my arm that reads ‘1873 MISTAKES ARE OK.’ The hospital where I was born accidentally recorded my birth year as 1873 instead of 1983 on my birth certificate. 1873 is also the year Levi’s was founded.
“As a result, the collaboration takes denim and builds in conscious aberrations: re-shaped & misplaced pockets, mismatched buttons and rivets, incorrectly cut labeling, reversed belt loops, exposed linings, asymmetric accenting and off register resin prints.”
