Ever on her grind, Megan thee Stallion‘s (real name Megan Pete) hard work continues to pay off with news the Houston-born rapper has signed on with Roc Nation management.
Megan announced the news on Instagram with an image of herself and Roc Nation founder Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter). In the caption she wrote, ” I would like to announce that I am officially apart of the @rocnation fam!!! The grind don’t stop !”
While managed by Roc Nation, Megan’s music will continue to be released through 1501 Certified/300 Ent. Record label 1501 Certified was founded by former MLB player Carl Crawford, while 300 Entertainment is an imprint started by Kevin Liles and Lyor Cohen, who exited the label in 2016 for a role as global head of music at YouTube.
On Twitter, Megan reflected on locking down the Roc Nation deal after losing her mother to a brain tumor earlier this year. Megan wrote, “After my mom passed I promised myself I was going to keep going hard bc not only is music my dream but it was her dream for me too. I have days where I want to go hide and cry bc she’s not here but i kno that ain’t what she would want me to do! I kno she’s proud of me !”
While most viewed the news as a big win for the 24-year old, former NFL player Larry Johnson stirred the pot on Twitter where he resurfaced chatter that her success was an Illuminati-fueled deal with the devil. Johnson wrote, “Her mother, who was her manager died in the month of March 2019, the same month of her ‘break out.’ Music industry filled with the easily corrupt fatherless children looking for Satan to be the ‘daddy’ they never had.”
Conspiracy theories conflating Megan’s success with the death of her mother aren’t new to Megan, who was forced to respond to the same chatter after being hit by a barrage of Illuminati accusations while grieving her mother’s death.
Dismissing Johnson along with all the other conspiracy theory “weirdos’ on Twitter, Megan wrote, “Just because YOU found out about me around the time my mother passed does not make what you’re saying accurate. I’ve been grinding for so long and would appreciate if you weirdos on the internet would stop trying to associate my mother having A BRAIN TUMOR with the fucking devil.”
