As enduring (and serious) as the Mid-Century minimalist furniture trend is at the moment, Italian furniture label Seletti provides some welcome humor with a couch and chair inspired by all American food favorites, the hamburger and hot dog.
The hamburger chair is fashioned to look like an open burger with a bun forming the back and bottom of a chair whose seat cushion is a brown beef patty. The couch is also an open bun that includes a removable hot dog cushion detailed with a squirt of mustard.
For added flavor, the food-themed collection also includes the option of adding a pillow-shaped sliced tomato, cucumber or pickle.
Made in collaboration with design collective Studio Job, the the hamburger and hot dog pieces were first introduced at the Maison & Objet Furniture Fair in fall of 2017.
Both the chair and the couch are now available on Neiman Marcus with the chair priced at $4,950 and the couch priced at $7,100. They’re also avaible to purchase at seletti.us.
