Nobody wins when the family feuds! Drake‘s father, Dennis Graham, no doubt poked a hornet’s nest when he stated in a recent interview that his famous son (real name Aubrey Graham) hasn’t been honest about the nature of their relationship.
In an exchange with Power 106 host Nick Cannon, Graham pushed back on Drake’s lyrics painting him as an absent father. Graham explained, “I had a conversation with Drake about that. I have always been with Drake. I talk to him if not everyday, every other day. We really got into a really deep conversation about that. I said, “Drake, why are you saying all this different stuff about me, man? This is not true.’ And he goes, ‘Dad, it sells records!'” And I go, ‘Ok, well cool!'”
When the 32-year-old Drake caught wind of the news, he took to Instagram to express his disappointment. On Instagram Live he wrote, “Woke up today so hurt man. My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him. It’s sad when family gets like this but what can we really do that’s the people we are stuck with…every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept.”
Drake nemesis Pusha T, who referenced Drake’s father’s failings in “The Story of Adidon,” also caught wind of the interview and pounced on Twitter, where he posted an emoji of twisted smile face.
This isn’t the first time Graham has said his son’s lyrics about him are a fairy tale. When he appeared on “A Waste of Time” podcast, he also said Drake’s lyrics weren’t reality based.
