Rihanna has been creating a stir over the past two weeks as she takes what appears to be a quasi work break that can be described as equal parts girls trip and party hang. For her latest caper, she attended her ex Drake‘s pre-birthday (he turns 33 on October 24th), invite-only party at Los Angeles nightclub Poppy on Monday night (October 21, 2019) .
Evidence of the evening was provided on Instagram Stories by “Love & Hip Hop: Los Angeles” cast member Lyrica Anderson, along with a series of paparazzi shots captured as the Bajan Boss departed the club.
According to an unidentified ENews source, “Rihanna made an appearance and stayed for several hours. She was with two girlfriends and was escorted to Drake’s table by security.”
Rihanna was last seen in public with Drake near the end of their relationship in late summer 2016. She began dating Hassan Jameel not long after and in a November 2019 cover story with Vogue, she didn’t name Jameel but confirmed, “I’m actually in an exclusive relationship for quite some time, and it’s going really well, so I’m happy.”
Prior to her club hang with Drake, the 31-year-old first inspired chatter of possible trouble in paradise with her beau when she posted a Fenty Beauty promotional video featuring music by Chris Brown.
While Rihanna stated long ago she has forgiven Brown, her fan base doesn’t share her generous spirit and were alarmed to see her give him even an iota of oxygen.
Rihanna’s free-wheeling ways began in mid-October at Rolling Loud in New York where she hung out back stage following a performance by her friend, A$AP Rocky. The night previous, she was spotted at the Miyake Mugler ball, an event hosted by her hair stylist, Yusef Williams.
She followed up on the concert with a girls’ trip to an unidentified tropical location where she lounged with bestie Melissa Forde, along with Jennifer Rosales and other female members of the Fenty Corp. team.
Her decision to be shot in a series of very skimpy outfits while on her vacay had some members of The Navy wondering if perhaps she was abandoning a more modest way of dressing to message she’s no longer beholden to a covered dress code inspired by Jameel’s preferences.
At the same time, it should be noted Rihanna has never once stated she adjusted her wardrobe to accommodate Jameel or anyone else other than herself for that matter. After all, in the very first public photographs of the couple, Rihanna was wearing a bikini!
While some see a break up, others have noted that Rihanna as of late is spending a lot of time in the public, which could indicate the beginning stages of building some buzz prior to the launch of her long-awaited ninth album. A Navy member can dream!
